This piece is inspired by the well known, provocative book by writer and thinker, James Baldwin, Fire Next Time. In a collection of two essays, Baldwin aims to reach a mass white audience to help better the plight of Black Americans in 1960s.
This work was commissioned by the National Symphony Orchestra and will receive its world premiere by the Kennedy Center Chamber Players on January 19, 2025.
